They are pretty small so will be very crowded when disembarking. So I suggest using the adjacent stairs. Using the ferries and just in Croatia is one of our favorite travels. And this is blog is one of the sources we relied on to make the trip better.

I definitely remember there being an elevator ON the ferry itself. I remember, because we were in the elevator and it opened to the men’s choir and I will never forget the surprise I felt at that moment! It’s been a few years, though, and for the life of me I can’t remember what it was like boarding the boat itself. I can’t imagine that there would be anything but a ramp to get onboard – there were tons of people with roller bags, roller coolers, etc. I think it’s safe to guess that there is a ramp to get onto the boat, and then hopefully the elevator on the ferry is operational. :)

One of our favourite ferry trips was from Greece to Venice & we slept in our camper van on deck. We were on the side so had stunning views! We will take wine + food on the ferry tonight!

I know I’m too late to help now, but I’ll respond for others. It wasn’t cold on board at all, we traveled in February. It was low season and kind of an odd time to travel, but still a lovely time to go b/c there were no crowds. :)

Our ferry was on time (in fact, I am pretty sure it arrived early), but I have only a sample size of one here, so I’m not sure if that is the norm at all. If it’s anything like our day was, then you’ll make it plenty early to go on a day trip that leave from Split at 8am. You’ll want to make sure you have plenty of snacks with you just in case you don’t get a chance to grab breakfast anywhere. I am sure they would have luggage storage in Split, too – I did not look around to see if there are luggage lockers, but I would be very surprised if they don’t have them.
